The flight control system is designed such that aircrafts can be directed to a region desired by the pilot by using the flight control system in response to inputs from the pilot. A beam-forming system includes a radio frequency (RF) transmitter and an RF receiver. The RF transmitter transmits an RF beam that is directed at a region desired by the aircraft. In the region desired, a beam-formed-object (BFO) is formed by the aircraft. The BFO is received by the RF receiver that the RF receiver can compare to the RF beam. An RF beam directed at an object in the path of an aircraft usually includes a number of pulses that travel toward the object. Each pulse is spaced in time apart from one another. The RF beam is directed by a radio frequency beam (“RF beam”). A transmitter generates an RF beam by transmitting RF energy, such as electromagnetic waves. The RF beam is also referred to as an RF beam. The RF beam is directed at a region desired by the aircraft by an RF beam-forming system. An RF receiver receives RF energy, such as electromagnetic waves from the RF beam. In general, the RF receiver is a receive antenna that receives the RF beam. The RF receiver also receives RF energy, such as electromagnetic waves that are absorbed by the BFO. When the RF beam is directed at a region between which the aircraft passes, the BFO is formed, where the BFO is received by the RF receiver. The BFO is formed by the RF beam being absorbed by an object in the region in the path of the aircraft. A sensor determines the distance between the aircraft and the region.
